Two are better than one,
because they have good return for their work:
if one falls down, his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Our first meeting of the year is just around the corner (Sept 8th) and we are so very excited about the opportunity to build new relationships and strengthen existing ones. Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday is an opportunity for you to come relax with other moms going through the same things you are. We are here to support each other, learn from each other, and grow together in Christ. Come to each meeting ready to refresh and rejuvenate!
I know firsthand that whenever I take time for myself (MOPS meetings, annual pedicures, girls nights, etc), I always return home more in love with my family than when I left. Isn't it odd, however, that as moms, we often find that we dream of doing something for ourselves, yet when given the opportunity, we panic! We leave our husbands with a million reminders on our way out the door: "Make sure to cut the grapes in half at dinner, Katie must have conditioner on her hair at bath time, don't forget to say "see ya later, alligator" to Ben before closing his door at bedtime..." and the list goes on and on. We're MOM and no one does the job like we do.
It takes practice to understand and embrace the need for Mom time, but when we get away from the mayhem, we come back with more to give than if we'd stay in the rut, running circles, doing it all.
As moms, we give and give, but if we never learn to receive, we'll soon have nothing left to give.
Taking Care of the Me in Mommy by Lisa Welchel is a wonderful book that outlines ways in which we can take care of ourselves to better take care of our families. Check the blog often for "rest stop" ideas from the book that will enable you to keep your tank full throughout the year. These rest stops will provide realistic ways for you, as a busy mom, to receive strength to continue pouring out your life for your family. Watch for tons of tips on how to nurture your body and nourish your soul!
The first way to do this is by letting go of all of life's to do lists when you come to MOPS meetings. We look forward to an exciting year full of growth and learning opportunities as well as fun memories made together!
