Play Dough
1 ½ Cups Flour
1 ½ Cups Salt
1 Tablespoon and 1 ½ tsp. Cooking Oil
1 ½ teaspoons Cream of Tartar
1 ½ Cups Water
Food Coloring
Extract, spices, or flavored oils for scent
Combine the first 4 ingredients in an old saucepan. Cook over low heat, gradually add water. Cook and stir until the mixture forms a soft ball. Remove play-dough from pan. Add food coloring and scent to play-dough. Knead clay until it is cool. Keep in small closed container.
Other Options:
Add drops of food coloring to the 1 ½ Cups of water before gradually adding water to the saucepan. Or add a package of Kool-Aid to the water for the color and scent.
Add whatever scent you want to create to compliment the color of the play-dough (ground nutmeg, ground cloves and ground cinnamon for a pumpkin pie scent with orange coloring, peppermint oil for a candy cane scent with red or green coloring, vanilla for a cookie scent with yellow coloring etc…)
