2009-2010 MOPS Helpful Hints

MOPS Meeting Schedule
Starting at 8:50am…you can drop your kid(s) off at Kid’s BLAST.

  • If you are bringing food there will be a food cart outside LSCC in the circle drive to put your food on. (one less thing for you to carry inside!)

  • Visit the Finance Table to pay for that meeting’s dues and sign-up for door prizes.

  • Visit the Activities Table for information or to ask questions.

9:15am… Door prize drawing
9:30am… Dismiss for FOOD (the “Table of the Month” gets to eat first J).
10:00am…Speaker, Craft or Life Skills
11:15-11:30am… Staggered dismissal to pick up your kid(s).

Monthly Activities
Each month 3 or more different activities will be scheduled. 2 mom and child activities and 1 mom’s only activity. You can do any or none, these are just a way to meet more moms and have a fun playdate.

How do I sign-up and/or pay for activities?
An Evite will be sent to everyone giving you all the info for that activity.
If this event requires you to pay ahead, you’ll see April Gammill at the Activities Table before our MOPS meeting starts and pay her. Please email April if you cannot attend an activity that you have signed up for.

How will I know and be reminded about MOPS activities?
Your DGL will let you know of any new information at each meeting, along with the updated table announcement sheets. E-mail reminders will be sent out 1-2 days before each activity, last minute details may be provided.

MOPS DICTIONARY
Sometimes, does it feel like MOPS has its own language? Here is a guide to help you with the entire MOPS lingo:

MOPS Mothers of Preschoolers, an international organization designed for mothers and their infant through kindergarten aged children. Visit http://www.mops.org/ for more insight and information.

Kid’s BLAST The children’s program designed for the MOPS member’s children.

DG Discussion Group…Each MOPS mom is assigned a discussion group, which includes other MOPS moms, a Discussion Group Leader and a Mentor.

DGL Discussion Group Leader…The “leader” of each discussion group. She is responsible for facilitating group discussion, making everyone feel welcome and reminding each MOPS mom about meeting details.

Mentors The “wisdom” of each discussion group. She represents a mom who has survived the preschool years and can happily tell about them. Mentors are there to serve the moms and pray for their needs in confidence.
